Back when I were a lass we didn't have these new fangled 'personas' - we had to make do with separate log-ins and all our personality notes writted on scraps of paper.

You kids these days and your new fangled conputer 'personas'... you have it easy

Creating personas is a fantastic idea...it's done in testing too, with test cases. You always need to consider how different groups will react to what you're doing.

Nice post!

Yeah - the reason why I like creating personas is because it really helps visualise what once was just a concept.

Now I can write my sales copy to that specific person - it makes persuasion and copy so much stronger.

Great post Anita, I totally agree with you. Making personas for the audience can be so helpful in understanding the overall strategy. My company also has a Branding Department (Base One Branding) and we quite often build personas for our clients. Not only has it helped the overall understanding of their audience but it has also really helped the Search Department in building a search strategy (especially when it comes to keyword research).

As a bonus it always make me giggle when the branding department makes up persona names like:

Ann Eager, 39
Married to Mike (+ a dog Bob)

HAHA - WTF??
