I agree with everything the four of you have said...and the point about how some clients simply don't have a lot of money is a good one. In my case, it's not relevant but it is in many cases like this. And, lots of times, once you prove yourself, you have more freedom. However, even if you remain locked into certain parameters, sometimes that's ok and you should just enjoy not having to make all the calls yourself.

Hey Julie - this post sure conjures up some fond memories...
Elinor: I used to be the service provider
Or: I was always the client
Elinor: I wanted nothing more than to move over to the client side
Or: She finally did and now we work together
Elinor: I try my best not to act like the client you are describing.
Or: I can't help but act that way - My actions are dictated by the company as a whole
Elinor: Whatever, Or, you're just cheap - always trying to save a buck
Or: You Bastard!
Elinor: In Sum - Although I do believe in spending, some clients just have to watch their budgets closely...but once you show results, I think they will be willing to spend more and let you dictate the rules a bit more.
Good Luck :-)

I totally get the point of what you're saying, Julie, but it is important that you only ever have one of these clients at a time or they will suck your creativity and spirit dry.

Great insight ;o)

Fantastic article once again Julie.

Not everyone comes from the "big 6" industries and yet they need SEO just as much as the larget sites.

I have had trouble finding sites at times even when using long tail searches not because they are out of Google but because of the way the page has been created.

We all need one client like this one to keep us real.

Thanks so much for sharing this!
