She's an old friend and she knows EVERYONE. So onto your question: no, you never need anything in your corner to go up to anyone and say hi. Never. If someone requires that, you don't want to know them most likely. I've had so many people just come up and say hi, I'm x, and that is it, and we've had brilliant conversations. It IS nice if someone has read what you've written, and if you know someone from somewhere, say that. Just don't feel that you have to. Hi Lisa,

How does one politely intro themselves to a old timer in the world of the net without being blown off? Do we need a resume to introduce ourselves or can we begin by simply saying, hi...
